After a short summer break we are proud to announce that Trill London is back, and ready to bring only the best Southern and West-Coast rap to Room 2 at the newly refurbished Plan B in Brixton, as the perfect compliment to On the Real taking place in Room 1. After a short but unexpected hiatus, Trill London Is ready to pick up where it left off to bring you a truly unique musical experience, in an atmosphere that only Trill London can provide.
Trill London is a surprisingly unique event, and the UK's only night dedicated to Southern and West-Coast Rap. Created by passionate advocates of the music who felt the need to fulfill London's demand for an event that caters to a huge sub-genre of rap generally ignored by the capitals clubs. Formed on the foundations of a focused music policy, and creation of a positive party atmosphere, Trill London is ready to bring it back bigger than ever for 2009/2010!
Trill will not just be hitting you with the hottest new joints coming out the South and West Coast, but also taking you on a journey through the rich, and diverse history of rap from these regions. Every thing from Atlanta Crunk bangers, classic Texas gangsta hits, all the way back to the Bay Area with the hottest Hyphy slumpers, Trill London will be smacking you with it all!!! There is literally no other party like it in London.
Resident DJ Rob Breezy has been a champion of Southern and West Coast Rap in the UK for many years, seen through his freelance journalist work in various publications, and contributing Editor status for Hip-Hop Connection Magazine. More than that however Rob Breezy knows how to tear a party down, and as part of the Southern Hospitality collective has been involved with, and continues to promote exceptionally successful Hip-Hop nights throughout the UK such as the infamous Hip-Hop Karaoke. As part of Southern Hospitality, Breezy has also produced a string of successful Mix-Tapes such as 'Hyphy Life' and 'BBQ Bangers' as well as the forthcoming Trill Mixtape series!! Trill London has been lucky enough for Rob to lend us his unparalleled expertise in the area of Southern and West Coast Rap to rip-up the dance floor as our resident DJ, in a way that only Breezy can.
CWD hit the UK shores after leaving his homeland of Australia, and successful resident DJ spots at extremely popular events such as Favela Rock behind. Now residing in London CWD is ready to smash the dance flo' with his trademark sound, and specialist knowledge of the genre. CWD is making big moves with mixtapes collaboration with the likes of Florida's DJ Smallz, and his own long running 'dattebyo' mixtape series (available @ djcwd.blogspot.com).
French native DJ FUNKEE aka Funkee the Female Pimp is an expert in the field of Southern rap, and has been honing her craft Djing in the UK as well as across the channel in her homeland. Funkee has taken part in the DMC championships and is an avid turntabalist, whilst using her day job working in a successful record company to keep herself at the forefront of new rap from the states.
Peter Beste is a leading photographer whose work has been published and displayed all over the world, mainly through his documentation of subcultures such as Norwegian Black Metal, London's Grime scene and most importantly to Trill London, Houston Rap! Peter spent years documenting the local rap scene in his home time of Texas, and after some subtle persuasion, Trill has been given exclusive permission to us his images during our events! You wont see this in-depth visual documentation of Houston Rap artist such as UGK, Scarface, Z-ro and a whole host of others anywhere else in the UK!!!
So get ready to party by throwing your Stunna shades on, Ghost ridin' the whip, or Buck Jumpin' your way down to Trill. Just make sure you leave those bad attitudes at home wit yo mamma beeeyatch!!!
